

Dr. Richard French Jr., OD was born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He began his career in the eye care field in 1999. Where he gained valuable experience working as an optical lab technician, optician, optometric technician, and then spent many years as an ophthalmic technician. He used this decade of experience to support himself while earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry-Health Sciences from the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO). He then attended the Illinois College of Optometry (ICO) where he earned his Doctor of Optometry degree in the windy city of Chicago.
During his time at the Illinois College of Optometry, Dr. French focused on Primary care, with an emphasis on refractive techniques for vision correction. Pediatrics, with an emphasis on binocular vision and vision therapy. And Advanced Care, with an emphasis on glaucoma, low vision, and dry eye. He was a member of ICO’s Private Practice Club and frequently volunteered his time to provide free vision screenings to various communities and organizations. Dr. French also received certifications in both minor surgical and modern laser procedures.
After graduation Dr. French spent several years in Colorado where he established Vertex Vision in early 2017. This practice thrived until the leasing property itself was closed in late 2020. Dr. French then supported the members of our military by practicing on Buckley Air Force Base and then at Norfolk Naval Station, in Virginia. Finally returning to Oklahoma in 2024, to re-established Vertex Vision in North Tulsa.
Dr. French enjoys dog training, taking walks, biking, enjoying great music, movies, and working on hobbies in the workshop.
